Coursemojo is looking for an Advanced Placement (AP) Instructional Design Contractor to support the design and implementation of hybrid AP courses. 

We are seeking contract instructional designers for:

  • AP Calculus AB 
  • AP Environmental Science 
  • AP Psychology
  • AP Spanish Language & Literature

Why is this role important? 

Coursemojo courses are designed for student engagement in a hybrid environment. We engage teams of students in meaningful tasks and texts, inviting them into the heart of a discipline. Our Course Design Contractors are obsessed with crafting courses that unlock engagement and high-quality, standards-based instruction for each team and student. They have a demonstrated belief that all students deserve academically rich opportunities for learning.

The Course Design Contractors will be managed by the lead manager for their content area and the work is led in collaboration with the Head of Course Design.

What will you do? 

  • Design and develop high-quality and highly-engaging, standards-based year-long high school course
  • Collaborate with subject matter lead and other stakeholders to identify learning objectives and design instructional strategies that meet the needs of diverse learners
  • Create instructional slides, assessments, and other assigned course materials using Coursemojo’s instructional design principles and industry-standard best practices for design
  • Create standards-aligned assessments for each module and unit of the course
  • Design and build highly-engaging asynchronous learning experiences using a range of instructional technologies
  • Ensure that course materials are integrated into our learning management system (LMS)
  • Meet project deadlines and communicate progress and challenges to project managers
  • Maintain course files according to Coursemojo’s knowledge management systems

What are we looking for?

Requirements

  • Experience teaching or being the instructional leader for an AP course in design
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet project deadlines
  • A track record of designing and implementing engaging and high-quality learning experiences for high school students in this subject area
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of learning theories and how they apply to instructional design
  • Knowledge of assessment design and the ability to create formative and summative assessments that measure learning outcomes
  • Proficiency in using instructional design software such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, H5P, or similar tools
  • Experience building features for high-engagement in-class activities
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and how to design inclusive learning experiences for all learners
  • Familiarity with Canvas or other learning management systems

Preferred (Not Required)

  • Experience as an instructional leader in this subject area
  • Track record of designing high school courses for a hybrid delivery model 
  • Experience working at an ed tech company or startup
  • Aptitude using AI technologies (including ChatGPT) or a willingness to learn and incorporate these technologies into the hybrid course design
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies such as Agile to manage complex projects from start to finish.

What will help you succeed in this role? 

  • Quickly understanding a process and applying it to a new situation (in this case, course design support and implementation needs)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and to communicate effectively with subject matter experts, project managers, and technical staff
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and tools as they emerge in the field during the course design process

Where is this position located?

This is a remote position for part-time contractors based in the United States. 

What is the compensation for this position? 

  • $10,000 – $20,000, project-based work completed between April to December (2023)
  • Compensation ranges are based on the scope of the design work necessary and will be discussed with candidates about the review of the course deliverables.
