Sophia learning is seeking two Subject Matter Experts to consult, write and edit course content and assessments for their Health, Fitness and Wellness online course. If you are an expert in Health, Wellness and Fitness, have teaching experience, and previous curriculum writing experience – we want to hear from you!

About the Role

Sophia is looking for two Subject Matter Experts (SME) to conduct a competitive analysis, develop the course structure and write text-based lessons for our Health, Wellness and Fitness course.

Essential Duties

• Content SME :
  • Consulting on course structure.
  • Writing, adding written content to, and/or revising approximately 80-110 lessons (avg. 1500-2500 words each), based on OER source content.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on multiple choice assessment items.
• Assessment SME :
  • Consulting on course structure.
  • Writing assessment content (avg 600-800 multiple choice questions with feedback/rationales).
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on lesson content drafts.

Job Skills

• Strong writing skills leveled for undergraduate or general education audiences
• Professional experience writing course and textbook content for a publisher or similar entity
• Previous course development experience in Health, Fitness and Wellness
• Previous experience teaching in Health, Fitness and Wellness
• Strong communication and collaboration skills (Sophia course development is a very collaborative process)
• Demonstrated attention to detail and responsiveness

Work Experience

• 2 years of experience in teaching and writing in subject matter area

Education

• Master’s or PhD in Health and Wellness, Health Science, Sport Science or a related field
